What is Econ Challenge: The National Economics Challenge (NEC) is the country’s only economics competition of its kind for high school students. It tests micro and macroeconomic principles as well as knowledge of the world economy. This motivating and fun team learning experience begins with competitions at the state level. This year’s Arkansas competition will be hosted on April 7, 2022 by the Arkansas Center for Research in Economics and Economics Arkansas. Students can participate in a variety of competition categories to compete for top prizes and a chance to move forward to later stages of the competition including:
Team Testing Competition: Teams of 3-4 students complete an economics exam focused on key concepts from micro, macro, and global economics!
Team Presentations: Student teams will work together to create and present presentations on economic topics to a team of judges.
Individual Student Essay Contest: Individual students may submit essays in advance on a specific economics topic. Writing prompts and rubrics are available for student participants.
