The Delta Cultural Center in Helena, Arkansas
The Delta Cultural Center is a museum and educational complex that tells the story of a land and its people, capturing what makes the Arkansas Delta region unique. It is the mission of the Delta Cultural Center to preserve, interpret and present the cultural heritage of this legendary 27-county area.
It is the mission of the Delta Cultural Center to research, document, interpret and present the heritage of the people of the Arkansas Delta. This mission is carried out through activities in four areas: Interpretive exhibits, public presentations, educational programming and documentation.
Student Exploration
There are several educational sites to explore around DCC. Students can walk through exhibits on Arkansas Heritage & Culture, Civil War in the Arkansas Delta, and Delta Sounds. Students can tour Fort Curtis & Battery Park and see how the natural geography of the Arkansas Delta influenced how battles could be fought there during the Civil War. Later at the Radio Studio, students can listen to a live airing of the the award-winning King Biscuit Time, first broadcast by KFFA Radio on November 21, 1941. Since that time, the program has become world renown, as well as an influential platform for up-and-coming blues performers. DCC even offers an interactive Escape Room exhibit, where students answer questions about Arkansas history while racing to solve puzzles and escape the room. Learning with DCC
The Delta Cultural Center has teacher resources available for Arkansas learners, like interactive timelines, downloadable worksheets, classroom posters, and other physical resources. They also offer student competitions like an annual essay contest, a poetry out-loud event, and an Arkansas history film competition.
