Are you looking for interdisciplinary lessons and activities to use in class this Spring? The Arkansas Center for Research in Economics, housed in the College of Business at the University of Central Arkansas, has a Social Studies Library full of state tailored resources for Arkansas educators.

Curriculum:

ACRE educational materials are developed to coincide with Arkansas’s state learning standards across the social studies discipline. The library currently consists of TEN curriculum guides that include lessons, hands-on activities, assessment materials, and primary and secondary source information that teachers can use to teach across their social studies classrooms. Lessons cover topics from U.S. and World History, Civics, Geography, Economics, Personal Finance, and more, and each lesson comes with a variety of additional resources to differentiate instruction for students.

Professional Development Sessions:

ACRE scholars participate in several professional development workshops throughout the academic year. At these workshops, teachers hear in-depth content overviews presented by experts in the field, participate in Q&A sessions, and take home new lesson plans and activity kits for their classrooms. For the 2020-2021 school year, each of these PD sessions have also been adapted to a webinar format and additional online teaching resources have been added to curriculums for those who are teaching in online or hybrid classrooms this year. Student Opportunities:

ACRE also works with other education partners around the state to create opportunities for Arkansas students. This spring, ACRE and Economics Arkansas will be co-hosting the state-level competition for Arkansas high school student teams interested in competing for a spot at the regional and national competitions! This virtual competition will consist of three components: a testing portion, a writing portion, and a digital design project. The highest scoring students and schools will receive prizes.
